Just above the house, on the well-trodden path on the hill. Seven more deer – young ones and older females – are following this male, just out of camera range.

Great photo, DJ–I know it’s not easy capturing these swift animals with a camera. Deer may cause havoc in the garden, but I still think they’re such beautiful animals.
A belated Happy New Year to you! The snowstorms have passed us by so far, too.
Rose, the deer are becoming more and more tame. One day, one settled in under the doublefile viburnum for a long while. She and I just looked at each other through the kitchen window.
Great pic of the Buck in action! It is tough for me to capture the big bucks in our woods as they dont seem to slow down for a photo shoot. Our deer have gone deep into the woods for winter. We rarely see them this time of year and they do not eat corn from the feeders we provide them. They have enough acorns and the such to keep them happy in the woods. Cant wait until spring when they return with their fawns….
Nice action shot. Seven deer is a lot of deer!!
Hey Skeeter. This buck was about thirty feet from the house, so I just shot this photo from the kitchen window. I enjoyed your post about Arlington. We have a veteran’s cemetery nearby and the sight of the holiday wreaths is always so moving.
Janet, we sometimes have that many every day. I think they eat the ivy on the hill, which is one reason I haven’t removed it. I like to think the ivy saves the other plants, but it probably doesn’t!
